Bills of Materials and Cut Lists: The Foundation of Error-Free Fabrication
Before the first cut, everything is decided on paper: parts, dimensions, materials, quantities. Why these documents are essential.

In a shop, the most valuable information is not in the overall drawing: it is in the parts list. It guides cutting, machining, edge banding and assembly.
The Bill of Materials
It lists every component of the project: solid wood parts, panels, hardware, assembly fittings, finishes. Every item is numbered and linked to the drawings.
The Cut List
- Rough and finished dimensions of each part
- Material and grain direction
- Edges to be banded, by side
- Quantities and groupings by material
Concrete Benefits
Accurate material purchasing, less waste, no forgotten part, faster assembly: a reliable cut list pays for itself from the very first project.
